Just a Tad Behind

Couple days to catch up on, with the holidays and all.
Let me start by saying, ever since I learned CFT was on New Year's day, I've been pondering what to do. Last time I did CFT was way back in August, and I did pretty darn good (235/100/255), but I wasn't doing the full-break parallel squats at the time. So, I have come up with a goal - not sure that I'm going to achieve it - because it is a bit lofty - but I want to give it a shot. A large part of whether I'll make it or not will depend on how I do on the squat. Either way - I'm going to have to go BIG on the Squat and DL. Why do I say this now, it's still a week away, you may be asking yourself....I just want to explain some of the thinking that was in my head when I did Push/Pull a couple days ago.

Push/Pull - 3 rounds of 3 bench press/deadlift for weight.
Bench Press - I got nowhere. 145x3, 145x2, 145x2. Still stuck. Got a pointer from Rich at the end - we'll see if that helps next time.
Deadlift - Started at 245, next round I was going to go up 10, but between Rich encouraging me to go higher, and the upcoming CFT in my head...I went 260. (Ok - not a gigantic jump, but my 1 rep max is 265) Last round I went to 270 - tried at first, head got in the way. Stepped back and tried again, this time I got all 3. So, I hit a PR, and it was for 3 reps. Naturally, the hardest one is the first....so still not certain that this means much when CFT comes around, because if I'm going to meet my goal - I'll have to go higher still. ZOIKS, JINKIES, and HOLY GUACAMOLE!!

Kettlebell ladder - I finished this in 8:21 with the 16kg. Knocked a mere 16 seconds off my last time. This was good - not fantastic or spectacular, but a bit of an improvement.

Today....Powercleans for weight - 5X5. ....need I say it again? Cleans - not my fav. I feel a bit like a sniveling schoolchild when I complain about them, but they are definitely in the hemmorroidal realm of things (AKA pain in the ass). They definitely felt off today - I managed to eek out 85/85/95/95/105. Duplicating the weights to try to improve the form....HA! I wish I could start to feel some of Patty's growing love for these, but it just isn't there yet. That's alright, I'll muddle on through, and maybe they will come naturally by the year 2020 or so.
That's about it - hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas!
