Have I mentioned that I love TGU's???

So, happy day...despite it being 150 degrees below zero outside! Jiminy Crickets it's cold! ...and not the nice cold outside where you can sing along with Dean Martin "Baby, it's cold outside...." No, no, no - it freakin' frigid. The kind of cold where you step outside and your nostril hairs immediately turn into icicles.

...and I digress. Well, let's go back to Saturday - it was the perfect workout after 2 weeks of hardcoreness (I don't think that's a real word!). It was functional focus day!...YAY! Although much slower paced, these are a lot of help when trying to improve. We did handstand pushups - again, YAY! I got to play in my favorite upside down rubber band contraption!! Pistols - down to the 16" box, and glute-ham thingys. Then we topped it of with a mini Cindy...10 minutes, 5 pullup/10 pushup/15 squats. I feel like I cranked through this - I believe I got in 6 full rounds. Woohoo!

Tonight, Turkish getups for weight. Again, I love these, I think they are the coolest! It's not a matter of just grunting to get the weight up...it's holding the weight and moving with it. Total finesse! Not to mention it just looks cool with the barbell.
I did fairly well. It was funny, as I was going to sleep last night, I had visions of me doing 75 lbs - that was one heck of a dream! Knowing that, in reality, this wasn't going to happen - at least not today, my next, more realistic goal was 60.
I did 40 then 50 no problem
55 - got the left, failed on the right.
55 - got it.
60 - ironically got the right, failed on the left. I think I psyched myself out on this one because as the barbell was being put in my hand, I remember thinking "hoo-boy - 60 is pretty heavy for one arm" BAD ELLEN! Sometimes my brain just doesn't shut up - that's why I can be a blabby person. If I blab, I don't think. That's kind of the double edged sword on the "no talking while heavy lifting" thing - it's a good thing safety/distraction wise, but hoo-boy, think too much, and you think yourself right out of a lift. Anyway, again, I veered in a strange direction - overall very happy! I may not have hit the 60 on both arms...but I also know why. Next goal - 75 lbs with the barbell. HA!
